Down the Long Lane Helping Women Write
As a Certified Author Accelerator Book Coach, I help you clarify your ideas to write a better first draft. I will guide you to dig deeper into your story as you revise. We will develop the protagonist’s emotional arc (in memoir, that’s you, but it is good to write with a bit of distance). I’ll show you how to thread your backstory instead of dumping it at the start.
I’ll help you understand the importance of stakes, structure, voice, and tone. Then I’ll guide you as you polish it, to be ready for publication.
For each phase of the writing process, we’ll prepare a plan, steps to take so that each time you sit at your computer to write, or at your desk with a pad and pen, you will be ready to work with clarity and enthusiasm.
If you are stuck or discouraged, we will talk it through to find the best path forward. This is your story and final decisions are always yours, but I can help you tease out new possibilities. You don’t have to figure it out on your own.
I’ll give you the accountability, editorial feedback, and emotional support you need to write a book your ideal readers will choose and will read to the end. When you are ready, we’ll discuss the different paths to publishing, their pros and cons, to help you choose what’s best for you.
This passion project of yours is noble work and deserves to be shared with the world (or whatever sphere you determine as your ideal audience). I’ll help you clarify your goals, then make them happen.

Deborah cares. It’s as simple as that.
She listens. She researches. She believes in the writers she coaches even if we do not believe in ourselves yet.
Thank you, Deborah!
The exercises Deborah asked me to do before our first meeting really helped me to clarify the point of my story, as well as helping Deborah understand my goals so she could provide better feedback.
Her feedback helped me deepen the goals, motivation and conflict for characters. Her comments were thought-provoking and encouraging.
I would highly recommend using Deborah as a book coach.
